On Tuesday, February 21, the O'Neill Foundation for Community Health and our Partners in the Community Health Initiative will be bringing to Volusia County Dr. Constantine Lyketsos to speak on Alzheimer's disease. Dr. Lyketsos, an active clinician, teacher, and researcher, is the Elizabeth Plank Althouse Professor at Johns Hopkins University, and Chair of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he directs the Johns Hopkins Memory and Alzheimer's Treatment Center. A graduate of Washington University School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Dr. Lyketsos is widely known for his expertise in the epidemiology and treatment of dementia, especially Alzheimer's. He is a 2006 recipient of the William S. Proxmire Award for "extraordinary leadership in the fight against Alzheimer's." His clinical expertise has been recognized by citation as one of America's Top Doctors for the past decade. Dr. Lyketsos has authored over 300 peer-reviewed publications, as well as many books, chapters, and commentaries. He is the lead Editor of Psychiatric Aspects of Neurologic Diseases: Practical Approaches to Patient Care (with Peter Rabins, John Lipsey, and Philip Slavney).
Dr. Lyketsos will be presenting at First Presbyterian Church, 724 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. The event is free and open to all interested persons.
